Hey there,

I'm a beginner with Java, JSF and Primefaces.
I'm in an apprenticeship as Software Developer.
In April I Need to do a Project based on JSF / Primefaces to finish my apprenticeship.

In this Project, I Need to create a Web Application which works as Label Printer.
This Label Printer get data from a DB.
I would like to ask if you could give me some hints how to start.

Like:

- Should I start with Primefaces tutorials or should i start with JSF tutorials.
- Is it very hard to create a Label Printer Web Application.
- Any good tutorials you could Show me?
- etc.

Thanks for Help
Excuse my english

Welcome to the Ranch

Start by writing down what the application is supposed to do. Write it very simply so anybody can understand it.

It's a Web Application to print Labels for medication.

What the application is supposed to do:

- Get customer data from a Database.
- Get medication data form a second Database
- Print this data on a label Printer(If possible, check if fixed Printer is available then print).

Yes the DB are already created and they've data in.

I know how to get data from a DB using JDBC for a console app or a Java Desktop app based on swing.
But I don't know yet how to use it with JSF and Primefaces.

You get data from the database the same way whichever framework you are using. I know precious little about JSF or PrimeFaces. I shall try copying this discussion in the JSF forum.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for your help.
I'll watch those Videos for sure. I Need every help I can get.

I'll start this Project around March.

Today's lesson is that you can't wear a jetpack AND a cape. I should have read this tiny ad:
