Hi,

I was wondering if someone could explain why option B for Review Question 14 in Chapter 1 is not part of the correct answer. The solution in the books says it is because of case, but from what I see the case in option B appears to be the same as the case in the file path.

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Douglas, the answer is correct (it is D), but the solution guide on page 335 has an error previously noted in our errata page: http://www.selikoff.net/oca

The explanation about case sensitivity applies to why C is wrong, rather why B is wrong. B is incorrect because the path is wrong if compiled from "/my/directory"

Thank you for the explanation. I looked at the errata and did not find it. However, I did not look down far enough. I stopped looking after Chapter 1. However, I found it after reading your reply. I appreciate that you did not flame me for asking a question that was already in the errata.

Hi Douglas Atkinson,

First of all, a warm welcome to CodeRanch!

Douglas Atkinson wrote:I appreciate that you did not flame me for asking a question that was already in the errata.

We can't do that here As the moose tells you, CodeRanch is a friendly place for programming greenhorns! And you really don't want to mess with the moose

For future reference: the official errata overview is sorted by default on page number. But you can sort on any column you want. Regarding review questions you have to look at both the chapter (for errors in the actual question and/or code snippet) and the appendix with all the answers for the review questions (which is after chapter 6).

Happy studying!
Kind regards,
Roel
