Spring MVC jodatime localdate object format in json response

I have a basic MVC application where I get data back from DB using the controller-service-dao call. The data is stored in collections (arraylist, hashmap) of pojos.

@ResponseBody in controller method definition automatically converts this list to json format. This is how my pojo class looks.

One of the objects in pojo class is of type . The json output I see in logs when I print the list using contains a very huge list of properties I don't need. Here is pretty formatted json string

How can I get only the date back in json?
