Paul W. mentioned that he would like to refresh the look of the javaranch main page. Anybody has suggestions on how to make the page prettier?

Hi everyone I have been working on some designs for the javaranch homepage, as i also think its about time we had an update

Im going to go down 3 different routes one Ios inspired, one moose/wild west inspired, and one flat clean tidy style.
So far i got a 3 moodboards together one for each route, let me know what you think and if you have any ideas to contribute.

Cheers Olof

Olof, I am a bit confused. Would that be for the home page at javaranch or the main forum page?

Hi Adrien,,, These moodboard concepts are initialy intended to set a theme for the javaranch homepage but there is nothing to say that it might not lead to a design for the forum pages and as well based on the final design... and who knows it might also lead to a homepage for Coderanch too

Have some cows for your concepts Olof. Personally I like them a lot; especially the first two.

That's impressive. I can't design worth a crap, so this stuff is mind blowing to me. I gave you another cow for all that effort.

Another cow for these designs, which manage to be "old-timey" yet modern at the same time. As someone who does have some design experience, I like all of these a lot.

Not certain but I think I prefer the 2nd design. A few spelling errors, however.

I like the second one best. Is there a way to work in the current vibe of our current moose?

Yes, I like it too; prefer the moose with the curled antlers. I presume the fly will still be circling endlessly?

That is awesomeness. Have cow for your time and great taste about design. That last one looks incredibly good (for me).

All designs are beautiful. But I still like minimal design, like stack exchange sites. Not the current design also.
