Hi there, I'm looking for anyone who works in the tech industry in the UK who could spare 10-15 minutes chat about working for startups and SMEs.
I'm writing an article about the challenges that growing tech / creative businesses face attracting and retaining the best talent. I'd like to hear about what you consider to be your priorities in finding employment and working for a small business. What would you find attractive (ie company culture, prospects, learning and development etc) what makes you choose a start up / SME over a big corporate? What could SMEs do better to attract you?
Yes, its an article I'm writing for RBS / NatWest for their SME business customers. It's not a survey as such, I'm just looking for a couple of people provide some insight into what they and their piers - working in the tech industry / tech careers - want from their employees. Particularly if they work for a small / growing / startup business. What persuades a young developer - for example - to take a job at startup on a lower salary than at a big corporation with a big wage packet. What are the 'must haves' for tech professionals in these smaller businesses. Is it share options, flexible working, work culture, more responsibility etc.

Thank you. I have been away and couldn't reply sooner. I shall try copying this post to another forum in the hope of getting it more exposure.
The harder you work, the luckier you get. This tiny ad brings luck - just not good luck or bad luck.
