Yesterday I was notified by Oracle per email that I passed the certification.

I'd like to thank everyone for the prompt replies I received to my questions and the valuable information provided on this site. Roberto Perillo's paper was especially helpful and very enjoyable to read. As others have done in the past I'd like to share some details with you as well.

Assignment: I got the Bodgitt & Scarper assignment.

Score: I got 364 out of 400 points. Oracle stated the following regarding the score: "Details of a passing score are not displayed in order to maintain test security. This score report is the only information you will be provided.".
I suspect I might have the famous 44/80 points in locking because that would perfectly fit my score but that is pure speculation. I'm a bit dissatisfied that Oracle doesn't tell me the score per category so I can't really tell what I could have done wrong.

History: I used my voucher for the assignment in July 2015 and took the essay on December 12th 2015. I assume I invested 120-150 hours in writing the code and documentation but it's hard to say. I got my results from Oracle on February 16th 2015 which is about eight weeks after the essay (Oracle information says it takes 4-6 weeks) and after I have contacted them via the OCP support form twice, to which I haven't received a direct reply yet but since I've requested support last Sunday and got my results two days later I assume they reacted to it. ;-)

Choices:
- RMI
- extended the provided db interface
- created my own SecurityException
- threw DuplicateKeyException from createRecord
- Data class handled db access and locking
- System.nanoTime for cookie
- read all header information from the db file and put them into class members but didn't use them further
- choices.txt is 70.2kb (11528 words according to LibreOffice)
- userguide.txt has 13.2kb (2130 words)
- I've created javadoc for everything including private elements
- I've used a slim version of MVC (more like view and controller only for the most part)
- GridBagLayout (plus builder pattern) for all GUI elements
- used ActionCommands based on enum constants
- kept GUI simple; used a file menu, short cuts and altGr access for every action
- extended JTable and AbstractTableModel
- used a common configuration dialog for client and server
- had all texts (titles, messages) directly in the code
- used neither new Java 8 features nor generics
- used interfaces and abstract classes where applicable, network client and offline client have a common abstract controller for instance

Hi Christian,

Congratulations champion! Great achievement Now it's time to relax a bit and have a (well-deserved) (or 2 or 3). And if you want to spoil yourself have a Belgian beer, our beers are the best of the world

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Other ranchers will definitely benefit! Have a cow!

Don't forget to add your name to the OCMJD Wall Of Fame!

Kind regards,
Roel

Hi Roel,

thank you for your good wishes! I will definitely try some Belgian beer when I get the chance!

I've just added my name to the wall.

Cheers,
Christian
