What is a good book to study for the OCA Java SE 8 (1ZO-808) exam?

Could anyone tell me if there is a big difference between OCA Java SE 7(1ZO-803) and OCA Java SE 8 (1ZO-808) exams? I am studying for the former but am thinking to take the latter.
Where can I find a good book and practice tests about the exam?

Thank you in advance.

I have just recently purchased the OCA Java SE 8 IZO-808 exam Study Guide by Jeanne Boyarsky, a member of this site. I am about a week in, and it is a really good book so far. It is recommended by others on this site. There are practice tests in this book as well.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to the Ranch I am sure Jeanne will be really pleased to hear what you said about her (and Scott's) book.

I shall try moving this discussion to our exam forum.

Hi Sahadete Jashari,

First of all, a warm welcome to CodeRanch!

Sahadete Jashari wrote:Could anyone tell me if there is a big difference between OCA Java SE 7(1ZO-803) and OCA Java SE 8 (1ZO-808) exams? I am studying for the former but am thinking to take the latter.

Here you'll find a mapping between the exam objectives of OCAJP7 and OCAJP8.

Sahadete Jashari wrote:Where can I find a good book and practice tests about the exam?

In the OcajpFaq (besides other very useful information) and this thread you'll find an overview of all available resources (study guides, mock exams,...) to thorougly prepare yourself for the OCA certification exam. And on the OcajpWallOfFame you'll find plenty of (links to) experiences from other ranchers (including resources they have used). So it can be useful to determine which resources are useful (and which are not).

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

Thank you all for the helpful information that you shared. I appreciate it. I am currently learning from the Bert Bates and Kathy Sierra Book for Java 7, and after I finish it, I am thinking to read the book of Jeanne Boyarsky and Scott Selikoff for java 8. Studying from these two books and mock exams I think are more than enough to pass the exam

Per Sahadete's comment about reading both Java 7 and 8 books, just bear in mind the objectives change between exams. Some topics that were important in Java 7 version of the exam are not in the Java 8 version of the exam. That said, I'm sure you'll learn a lot from both books!

That will indeed be a perfect combination to prepare for the OCAJP8 certification exam! But you have forgotten one very important resource: this forum

Happy studying!

Roel

Yes I forgot CodeRanch... but as long as I posted the question in this forum, means that I already considered it as source of resources for the information, advices and materials for the certification path.
I couldn't ask for better... I got my question answered from the authors of books themselves and also from certified people who are willing to help.

With gratitude,
Sahadete.
