Welcome Cay!

I started learning java with one of your books, Java concepts 6th edition, more or less 3 years ago.

Since then I've read other books from you, Core Java I and II included.
I personally find your way to teach and explain concepts, extraordinarily clear and effective.

Thanks for all your hard work.
Cheers

Wow, Cay Horstmann at JavaRanch! Sir, your books are the best on my shelf (and I've got a lot of them). I find a reason to open a volume of Core Java nearly every day. Thanks for writing them.

Mr Horstmann,

I've got to say it's a pleasure to join the others in welcoming you to this forum. I used your Core Java books when I was first learning Java back in 1999 and I've recommended them to new developers frequently since then.

Thanks again for your excellent work.

Gary

Welcome Mr. Horstmann,

It is a great honor to have the possibility to realize an question to you. I've been a fan of your books and I would like to make a couple of questions that will be in a separate thread.

Thanks,
Abraham

Hi Cay!

I first started learning Java with your course on Udacity. It was challenging but intensely fun. You're an amazing instructor.

Welcome Dear Cay!,

I must admit, I owe a lot to this JavaRanch/CodeRanch community and to Cay's books.

I failed in Java subject in my university exams for continuously 7 times (DARK TRUTH) and then I happened to land on JavaRanch community forum, I started going through forums, QAs and got some stuff from its authors like Cay, and I was able to clear my Java exam which I still can't believe that I finally made it! Thank you JavaRanch, Thank you dear Cay.

I will love to have a book from you take on my Java Journey to the next level.

Wish you best luck.

Moin.

Thanks very much to everyone for the warm welcome. It's amazing that Core Java has now been around for twenty years. The first edition had around 500 pages in a large font, and now there is so much material that I have to throw stuff out in every revision.

I'm looking forward to your questions and discussions.

Cheers,

Cay

My first Java book is Core Java, 7th Edition, which is based on Java 5. It helped me a lot finishing my school projects.
Now I'm thinking buy a new edition of this book.

We've had the pleasure of your visit here before, but I've actually only just realized that you're one of the authors of Big C++, my most-read book on that particular subject!

It's great having you again

Welcome to JavaRanch sir, I've read an older edition of both Volume I and II and I found it really useful. The approach of the book to not use dummy examples was interesting and different
