Will Java 9 have big changes in the language as Java 8 ?  RSS feed

Hi Every One!

Does Java 9 have big changes in the language as Java 8 have ? or just enhancements to Java 8 and increase in the API libraries like was in Java 6 enhancements to Java 5 ?

The changes will be on both APIs as well new enhancements.

Probably just as well, because most of us are still getting to grips with the v8 tidal wave.

I think the most interesting change would be the module system, , but it's not sure yet if this feature will make it to Java 9.

As far as the language itself goes, the coolest change is that interfaces can have private methods, which can greatly help with breaking up large default methods.

The Java 9 release was delayed to make sure the module system works, so I am pretty confident that modules will be in Java 9. Otherwise, it would be a major embarrassment.

That's more or less what Mark Reinhold said as well.
