Will there be an update for the ebooks Sybex OCA/OCP Java 8 Study Guide?

I have the feeling more than 180 so called 'Typos' for the OCA-book should be reason enough to make an update at least on the ebook, since the so called typos normally means wrong information rather than a misspelled word.

I'm now trough the OCA ebook and it helped me a lot, so thanks a lot for this great Book. The exam will be in one Week and I'm confident that I will pass without any problems. But I'm a little suprised that I didn't know the answer for a pertty simple question about operators in enthuware. In the end I guessed it right (~ is an operator while $ isn't), but guess guessing isn't the way to pass the OCP exam, is it?

sincerly
Jorma

A possible reprint of the paper book was briefly discussed/mentioned in this topic. According to Jeanne it won't be for the near future (and it even might not be reprinted at all). With regard to the e-books I have no clue, but I think the e-books are also not very likely to get an update. But probably Jeanne and/or Scott can provide more reliable information than me.

No need to worry! ~ is the unary bitwise complement operator, which inverts the bit pattern. Bit twiddling operators are not listed in the exam objectives, so you won't encounter such a question on the actual exam.

If you only have to guess one question your chances to pass the exam will be high. If you have to guess each question, you'll probably fail the exam (unless you are really, really, really lucky ). Don't forget that on the actual exam there is no point deduction if you answer a question incorrectly, so (if needed) you can guess for free.

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

I asked the publisher. The answer was that they update the e-book at the same time as the paper book. However, that's only for new purchases. They don't update existing e-books.

There is talk about a new version f the OCA. No date associated with it yet. The OCP book is too new to be having that discussion.
