Hi,

I am new to j2ee. Could you point me in the right direction
with regard to what are the backend technologies in j2ee?
As I understand struts and jsp servlets are frontend technologies?
I am a network management person and since j2ee is so vast
I would like to concentrate on the backend technologies only.
Also is spring and hibernate part of j2ee?
what are web services?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Ranch.

Backend technologies in java? EJB, JMS, JTS, JPA, web services, etc. Basically anything java in the business, persistence, integration, resource tiers except servlets, JSP and JSF (web tier stuff).

Spring and Hibernate are not part of JEE.

However in understanding JEE, you ought to start with servlets and JSP. The core of the JEE is EJB.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
