i am trying to run the 'describe table_name' command on oracle. I am using dbeaver for accessing oracle. But, when i run the command, it shows SQLException and error message "invalid sql statement". How can i perform the operation?

DESCRIBE is a SQLPlus command, not a SQL command, so it won't be recognised.

This page has some SQL that can mimic the result of a DESC.

Dave already answered the question. I will just add that you can query User_Tab_Columns (or *_Tab_Columns, but pass the Owner!) for the information. Though, if trying to describe a SYNONYM, you'll need to check User_Synonyms first.
