Do you have any experience with Struts/Spring/javascript/JQuery? If not, I recommend getting up to speed with the technologies you want to use before attempting to wedge in new functionality. We have many resources linked off our various FAQ's: Struts 2, Javascript, Spring. It's important to know how the frameworks you are using work to avoid common pitfalls especially if you are hoping to make an application more secure.
If you have already gotten up to speed on those technologies, what have you tried and what specific issues are you having?
