Hello,

I am focusing to pass the Java 8 SE Programmer 1 (1Z0-808) exam at the end of this year. In the later future I also want to pass the Java 8 SE Programmer 2 (1Z0-809).
Because I still learn best by reading books, I saw following study guide:

OCA/OCP Java SE 8 Programmer Certification Kit

I checked the reviews and they are positive, so I really am close to buy the book.
I want to prepare it very perfectly so I pass the exams from the first time, so I want to practise as well.
The only concern I have if each book contains (enough) preparation exams (on paper, online, or cd)?

If they do, I order the kit asap.

Can someone give me some information?

Jonas

Hi Jonas Awe,

Jonas Awe wrote:The only concern I have if each book contains (enough) preparation exams (on paper, online, or cd)?

Both study guides (for the OCA8 and OCP8 certification exam) contain 3 (online) practice exams each. So for each certification exam you'll have 3 practice exams to test your knowledge. At the end of each chapter in these study guides you'll find also a bunch of review questions to test your knowledge of that chapter. So each study guide is definitely enough to pass those certification exams. If you feel you still need some more practice, you can find (free and commercial) mock exams on the internet. Enthuware is without doubt the best one currently available, it offers excellent value for money.

In the OcajpFaq (besides other very useful information) and this thread you'll find an overview of all available resources (study guides, mock exams, video courses,...) to thorougly prepare yourself for the certification exam. And on the OcajpWallOfFame you'll find plenty of (links to) experiences from other ranchers (including resources they have used). So it can be useful to determine which resources are useful (and which are not).

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

Thanks Roel!
I will order it and save the other resources.
Thanks for the help!

JOnas,
Make sure not to "waste" the three exams. (This is true of any mock exam, not just ours.) You want to wait until you've mastered the review questions at the end of the chapter before taking the first mock exam. You can take the review questions tons of times. Then if you aren't happy with your score on the first mock exam study more before taking the second. We've tried to make it hard to memorize the answers to the questions, but you still lose the accuracy of the score over time.
