how do i add admobs on android

good day guys


I have created an app, now i want to add admobs but the app wont show the ads, and when i add this code on the activity i want to add an ad on,The app wont start, it just says the app have encountered a problem and stops,it build without errors though

mAdView = (AdView) findViewById(R.id.adView);
        AdRequest adRequest = new AdRequest.Builder()
                .build();
        mAdView.loadAd(adRequest);

i have watched online videos, i did not get any help

If the app crashes, the first step should always be to check the logcat for exceptions and stack traces; post that here.

I think it's unlikely that watching videos is the best way to learn an API. Given that this is a commercial API, there's bound to be a bunch of documentation, probably including sample code and FAQs.
