Hi Ranchers.

First of all I'd like to thank you all for helping me on a few topics while I was preparing for this certification!
Yes, Today I cleared it. I had 3 weeks to prepare (dreamjob requirements), with 3 months prior experience in Java (university). With the OCA study guide, and the enthuware tests. (I didn't have time to finish enthuware, only did 3 tests + last day test)
Sum. preparation time: ~100 hours.

Next I'd like to go for the OCP8, but now I will have as much time as I need to prepare for the exam. I was wondering if you could give me any tips. I searched the forums on OCP stories (wall of fame and such) but I've found mostly only OCA stories, which I have used in my hastly preparation. Any links are also appreciated! (I probably fail at using the search function? Damn me.)
At first look it seems that OCP will be much harder than OCA, but I really don't know. I will probably get the enthuware for it too, as it helped me tremendously with the few topics that were unclear to me in OCA.

Thank you all for your time, best regards and cheers , Dóri

Dóra,
Welcome to CodeRanch!

First of all, congratulations on a great score - especially given the short timeframe. You are correct that the OCP is much harder. The approach to studying is the same. It's harder because there is more material and it is deeper material.

You are correct! The OCPJP certificatin exam will be much harder than the OCAJP one. And the reason why is very simple: you need to know much more advanced topics (generics, collections, file i/o, nio, threading, concurrency,...) and you need a really in-depth knowledge of all these (advanced) topics.

On the OcpjpWallOfFame you'll find some stories about the experiences of other ranchers who have passed the OCPJP certification exam. And you'll probably find a lot of useful information in the OcpjpFaq as well. And if you have some doubts or questions, don't be shy and share them in the OCPJP forum.

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel
