Can't create a simple user in MySQL without Access Denied Errors!

In Navicat, I created a user called "owncloud" for localhost and I assigned a password like: "password" (for example).

Then I assigned all the privileges in the object privileges page.

---

Then I created a new connection where I assigned the user name "owncloud", the localhost, and the password I created in the Edit user dialogs.

Yet, when I "Test" the connection or try to double click it, I get the infernal "Access denied using password (Yes")" error.

Multiple refreshes, etc., of the connection.

Also tried to create an extra connection using the "%" wildcard for the host, but no joy here either.

--

Would appreciate any suggestions here. This configuration is extremely frustrating. I must be missing something quite simple, but it's not jumping out at me.

Thanks in advance,

-mike

If I remember right, you also have to tell MySQL what address the user is allowed to connect from.

Thanks Paul.

Wanted to post back with the solution.

It turned out that on the MySQL user permissions on the server, I needed to create a host = "%" for it to work externally (remotely).

Appreciate your reply. :)

Have a cow for coming back and sharing your solution! Might be helpful for other ranchers as well.
