The Ranch isn't a place where you'll be told all the things you did wrong by asking the question in the first place.

Or how the same question has already been answered 10 dozen times before.

Or how you're an idiot for even needing to ask the question.

Our #1 rule is simply "Be Nice".

We're not counted as the "go-to" site when you want a quick fix for a problem. There are other places to go if you just want something that you can cut-and-paste. But we are noted for helping people understand WHY something is the way it is or why things must be done a certain way. We encourage understanding, not just quick answers.

If you complain about us mods, we sit up and take notice. Sometimes. If we get it wrong we apologise. Sometimes.

I think this discussion would fit better in the Ranch Office forum.

the ranch is also not a place where you can say "How do I do X", and someone posts the complete coded solution. We try very hard to use a dialogue to go back and forth to guide folks to finding the answer themselves, rather than just handing them ready-made answers.
