I am a computer science and engineering last year student. I am interested in Java and I wanna build my career as java based software engineer. But i want to do work in my home. So far i have known it is possible by as a freelancer or remote jobs. I seen many web sites where java jobs can be found but i am confused about them. What are the good places among them? I am doing this question because i have also read some review in internet that there are many places where payment is a problem, even after finishing job, i would not be paid ever or i may not be fairly paid.
Please the Java veterans suggest me such web sites and also please don't forget to suggest me the preferred skills for those site.

Careful: you may find that freelance jobs are only available to people with several years' experience. Many will require travelling to the employer's premises.

Maybe to start, find a cause you care about and see of you can volunteer some time to build something for them or make something better. Less pressure for the first time around and you have your first bullet point for your resume.
