Rendering the <head> element of target page in Tiles 1.x

I am coming from SiteMesh style templating and am now devleoping with Tiles.
Using the SiteMesh style I was able to have something like this

Target



This would result in `example.js` being loaded into the single `<head>` element of the final result.

But I just don't see how this is possible in Tiles. I've read about the Composite vs Decorator pattern for template engines but all of that's a little above my head. Basically what I want is to be able to use Tiles 1.x to render the content of the target pages `<head>` element into the layout.
