So I have Windows 7 running on a Mac OS X host using Virtual Box. I tried to install Java 8 64bit (and yes it is a 64bit OS and running on a 2016 Macbook Pro) and once it is downloaded it says "x64.exe is not a valid WIn32 application" I tried installing it using chrome, and IE 64bit and its does and says the same thing. Anybody have any ideas??
Carey: VirtualBox is a virtualization tool, with this you can run another operating system inside the operating system that's installed on your computer. For example, if you have a Mac (running Mac OS X), than you can create a "virtual computer" that runs Windows 7 inside Mac OS X.
But K. Tsang is right; whether you need 32-bit or 64-bit Java for Windows running inside VirtualBox is determined by whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, and that Mac OS X is 64-bit has nothing to do with it.
Franklin probably has a 32-bit version of Windows 7 running inside VirtualBox, so he needs to use 32-bit Java; 32-bit Windows cannot run 64-bit programs.
