Preperation around 3 weeks:

I started preparing the first week with the oracle press book (Finegan - Liguori). Not a bad book at all, but after reading reviews on this forum I decided to get the Sybex study guide book (Boyarsky - Selikoff).
Personally I prefer the Sybex study guide book. It reads more pleasant, more to the point and it cleared a few things up I didn't fully understood yet.
I studied both books on the same way. Going through each subject and doing practical exercises (usually copying the code from the book and altering the code). Both books have questions after each chapter, if I got one wrong I went back to read the subject again till I understood why I was wrong.

I also bought and very recommend the Enthuware questions (seriously get them). I failed the first test (questions are harder than the questions of both books), took my time to go through all the questions, read the explanations and go back to the Sybex study guide.
I repeated this pattern for all the Enthuware tests and got above 80% on my last couple tests.

I passed the exam yesterday with 90% and I can confirm the actual exam is easier than the Enthuware tests. Due circumstances I did not have a lot of time to prepare for the exam during the weekend and I lost all my coinflip guesses unfortunately.
But I'm very happy with my final result.

Meanwhile I was also lurking around this forum which helped me greatly. Reading questions of other users, finding more study references, Enthuware questions,....

Thanks

Steven,
Congratulations! It's great to hear our book helped you. If you haven't already, could you post a review on Amazon?

Congratulations champion! Great achievement Now it's time to relax a bit and have a (well-deserved) (or 2 or 3). And if you want to spoil yourself have a Belgian beer, our beers are the best of the world

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Other ranchers will definitely benefit! Have a cow!

Hey Steven! Congratulations on a job well done!
I just finished my first semester of college and I was wondering if you could share any tips. I have the Sybex book as well as the Enthuware tests. I have exactly 1 month.
Before college started, I tried to study for the exam but wasn't ready by the time I started college in August this year. So I still have knowledge of Java stuff. I took the first Enthuware test in August and got a 48%. So I decided to wait until winter break to study and complete the exam before scond semester starts.

Best,
Simon
