Thanks Mala Gupta for your work and the promotion that you are doing of your book. I have read your book "OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide", It was really good.  I would like to buy the OCA Java SE 8, but I have a tiny budget, then, I will try to participate in the promotion to gain one ;-)

Please, Samir Agayarov, could you explain what should I do to participate in the raffle? I have to post two questions here: https://coderanch.com/f/117/ocajp and you will choose the winner from there? Thanks for the clarification!

Welcome Mala Gupta.

I have read your book for OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I. It is indeed a very good book and I could understand all java basics concepts, reading it.

I am yet to appear for OCA Java SE 8 exam and I hope to gain good knowledge of functional programming basics required for this exam from your new book.

Thanks,
Riddhi

I really loved OCP Java SE7 Programmer II Certification Guide, from Mala. It helped me a long way to get my OCP certification. I'm really looking forward to get my hands on OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Certification Guide and take another shot on a OCA exam, to get a better score. What's funny is that i got a better score on my OCP than on OCA exam, probably because the second time I had the help of a great study material, Mala's book . Thanks for the great work.

Samir Agayarov wrote:Thanks Mala Gupta ,for your action in Java.

'Action in' is the most popular series by Manning Publications. These books include a lot of code to show a particular technology/ language/ topic 'in action'.

The title I am promoting this week, here at JavaRanch, is 'OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Certification Guide'. Don't worry; to err is human.
The errata list that will follow the publication of this title will tell the same about me :-)

With much respect,

Hi Carmen -

Carmen Gamez wrote:Thanks Mala Gupta for your work and the promotion that you are doing of your book. I have read your book "OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide", It was really good.

Thanks for the appreciation. It's always good to hear positive feedback. :-)

Carmen Gamez wrote:I would like to buy the OCA Java SE 8, but I have a tiny budget, then, I will try to participate in the promotion to gain one ;-)

Did you write the OCA and OCP Java 7 certifications? If yes, then you don't need to write this exam to upgrade your certification to Java version 8. To do that, you can write the 'Upgrade Java SE 7 to Java SE 8 OCP Programmer' certification. This path will require you to write just one exam.

If you didn't write the OCA and OCP Java SE 7 certification exams, I wish you that you win a copy of this title, this week. Good Luck.

Carmen Gamez wrote:Please, Samir Agayarov, could you explain what should I do to participate in the raffle? I have to post two questions here: https://coderanch.com/f/117/ocajp and you will choose the winner from there? Thanks for the clarification!

That's right. Post your questions in the forum. As mentioned by Tim (bartender) in the first post in this thread, posts in this welcome thread aren't eligible for drawing.

Have you posted your question already/ or answered any in this forum? I believe only the posts starting from today (Sep 13) to Sep 16 will be eligible for drawing.

Once again, Good Luck to you.

With much respect,
Mala

Hi Nizamuddin -

You can download and read this title's first chapter free from Manning's (publisher) website using the link - manning.com/gupta3. I've included a screenshot to highlight the link.

My favorite in this title is 'Twist in the Tale' exercises'. They encourage you to try code with modifications and analyze how small modifications can have big impact on the code output.

Thanks for your wishes. I hope you find it a good read.

With much respect,
Mala

Hi Riddhi -

Thanks for the appreciation! I'm pleased to learn that my OCA Java SE 7 Programmer book helped you to understand Java basics. Did you write the 1Z0-803 exam?

The OCA 8 Java SE 8 Programmer I exam includes an introduction to the functional style programming in Java. It includes writing simple lambda expressions.

Good Luck to you.

Hi Paulo -

Thanks for your very kind comments.

I'm pleased to learn that my OCP Java SE 7 Programmer II Cert book helped you to get a good score. Congratulations to you.

If you have already written and passed the OCP 7 Java SE 7 Programmer II Certification, you can write just one exam, that is, 'Upgrade Java SE 7 to Java SE 8 OCP Programmer' to upgrade your Java 7 certification to Java ver 8. If you plan to write the OCA Java SE 8 certification, then you'll need to write the OCP Java SE 8 cert too. I hope you are aware of this.

With much respect,
Mala

Thanks, David. This is one of the best compliments that I've received for my book.

But before you give all its credit to me, a team of people work on a book. I've been very fortunate to work with Manning Publications. They have an excellent team. Starting from the development phase, to review, production and then marketing, Manning includes the best professionals.

I'll pass this compliment to my team. :-)
