... And I have no idea why.

These are the pattern strings:

This is how they're used in the method:

For some reason every one of these is working perfectly except the propertyPattern. It resolutely refuses to believe that anything following the pattern property="<whatever>" exists.

I send this method the following String: <html:link styleClass="back button" href="javascript:doWhat('dontSave','BACK');" >BACK</html:link> and it extracts the href value perfectly; it can get hrefs, ids, styleIds, but it does NOT want to do properties. And I am completely at a loss for why. Is there something about the word 'property' that Pattern matchers don't like, is there something I'm not getting about pattern matchers in general, or has my computer made an arbitrary decision that it hates that particular pattern matcher?

UPDATE:

I really wasn't expecting this to be the answer, but...

>or has my computer made an arbitrary decision that it hates that particular pattern matcher?

I restarted Netbeans. Zero code changes were made. Property pattern matcher works now. I thought it was incredibly unlikely that Netbeans would just arbitrarily decide to screw up, so I assumed the issue had to be somewhere between the keyboard and my chair, but apparently for once it really was just the computer derping out.

Not related to your issue, but it appears to me that you're doing this in a bit of a verbose way. Since you're using patterns anyway, you might as well use their full power.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
