Is it working? Can you connect through the management tools?

It sounds like you're running the server on the same machine you are trying to connect with.  Check that the server is running.  Look in the Task Manager for a process that says something about SQL Server 2008 in it.

Then, do you have the right port number?  Are you using a firewall?  Can that port get through the firewall?

Post any information about how you're trying to access the SQL Server.

Do you have an answer to the other questions posed?

Hello,
You probably need to set SQL Server to allow "remote" connections. If it useless you can try thism app http://www.mssqlserver.repair/
It restores the contents of SQL databases.
I hope this will help you, if so let me know,
Thomas
