Hi guys, just some feedback about the exam, which I have finally passed!
It was harder than I thought.
Some of the questions were, rather than really hard, time consuming and I had to spend quite a bit of time on them.
Also there was one (wll that's the one that I remember at least) very unexpected question which expected me to know that 97 and 98 corresponds to char "a" and "b". The question was along the lines of converting 2 integers with the value of 97 and 98 to char then then print them or something like that.
Also, my suggestion for those guys who haven't done java for a long time and want to get the certification is to study study study and practice practice practive. Code a lot of loops (do-while, while and, above all for loops), as there are an awful lot of them in it (I know because I've done the exam twice, first time I didn't pass it!)
The books I've used, if I'm allowed to say that here are the OCA study guide (Jeanne Boyarsky and Selikoff) and this one too https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Certified-Associate-Programmer-Practice-ebook/dp/B00TVERES2/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1478880783&sr=8-10&keywords=oca+8 and I recommend both of them and, above all, don't take the exam unless you score above 85% in all the exercises and mock up tests (yes you'll end up memorizing some of the questions but believe me it's not a bad thing after all because in the exam you only have maximum 1.9 minutes per question!)
Also, I wanted to thank all the guys here for the support and patience.

That doesn't seem like something you'd have to know and is philosophically different than the level of knowledge they expect. Some possibilities:
  • They expected you to know that the chars map to numbers, but not have the numbers memorized
  • They expected you to know that 'a' maps to a number one smaller than 'b'
  • They were testing out a question (sometimes questions are unscored so Oracle can survey to see how people do)

    Thanks, :-)!

I'm so gutted I don't remember exactly the question, as it would have been great to post it here. However, I think your points are very valid. What I distinctively remember  was that the "a" and "b" were effectively among the answers and they seemed the only possible answer, not sure whether this helps or not.
