I've taken a few courses in person on Java but I always manage to get left behind at one point or another and I finish the course feeling completely unconfident in my Java abilities. Is there anywhere online that you could recommend that I could have a better time learning Java from the basics?

I'm not a programmer, but I really enjoy the Oracle tutorials. I find I understand about 90% during the first two reads. Here is the link:

Welcome to the Ranch
We don't provide courses ourselves, but this is a good place to find advice.

Hi, Ben,

Learning Java well is hard, it is vast. There are courses but they are not likely to make you into a Java-coding machine.

Practice makes perfect. Having a CS degree helps as well, but it is not like a total pre-requisite.

Mastering Java is a work of many years of practice and learning, so get ready.

I would not recommend taking a course in a programming language that would not involve a horrendous amount of coding in the language. You can visit a coding bootcamp, that's probably the best solution to get the proper velocity towards being a coder.

With best regards and wishing you the best in your worthy undertaking,

Anton.
