I have no idea about this program. I was given to do this in my classes.

you should also tell the details. Do you have to generate this random number or is it going to be passed in to your program as a command line argument? Does your program just have to convert just one number or does it have to keep asking the user for more numbers until some kind of indication is made that he doesn't want to play any more?  Are there limits to the numbers that your program should accept? What if the user enters a number that Java can't handle? Are negative numbers allowed?
