Hello, I hope I have the right forum for this question, but please feel free to move it if I dropped it in the wrong one. This is probably simple to do but for some odd reason I haven't figured out how. How do you include the name of the person whose quote you are attaching to your reply? I know you use the Quote button to insert a quote, but I can never get the name of the person who wrote the quote to appear in bold at the beginning of the quote.

As always, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hmmm.... seems to work for me.

And BTW, let me move this topic to the ranch office forum for you.

If the post is short and you want to quote all text in it, you can click 'quote' button on particular post, so it would wrap it and assign it to user's name.

Now if you want to take only the part of the text (which is the most common case) and quote it with particular user's name, then:
1. You copy some text you want to quote
2. Paste in your text editing area
3. Select it and click 'Quote' button, so it surrounds the text with quote tags
4. in the first quote tag, you add right after the quote '=Name Surname' (without single quotes)

Oh, I see. This is referring to the quote button in the compose page -- and not the quote button over the posts in the topic page.

Well, this is embarrassing. Your instructions Liutauras couldn't be clearer, but for some reason it still doesn't work.

I tried the following, feel free to tell me where I am wrong...I am using your final point as an example

4. in the first quote tag, you add right after the quote '=Name Surname' (without single quotes) =Liutauras Vilda

This just shows your name with the equals sign beside it

=Liutauras Vilda 4. in the first quote tag, you add right after the quote '=Name Surname' (without single quotes)

This too shows your name with the equals sign beside it, but at the beginning of the quote

Sorry about this, but I really appreciate the quick response from you and Henry!! And thanks to Henry for moving this topic.

=Liutauras Vilda that bit needs to be inside quote tag

[ quote = Liutauras Vilda ] text [ / quote ] - just remove spaces

Do this...

[quote=Liutauras Vilda] 4. in the first quote tag, you add right after the quote '=Name Surname' (without single quotes)[/quote]

Not this...

[quote]4. in the first quote tag, you add right after the quote '=Name Surname' (without single quotes) =Liutauras Vilda[/quote]

Nor this...

[quote] =Liutauras Vilda 4. in the first quote tag, you add right after the quote '=Name Surname' (without single quotes)[/quote]
