Hi folks,

I am a total newbie at web programming with Java(specifically spring framework).

Lets say I am using AWS now. do I need to install Spring Framework on the server(EC2) ?

OR

I am actually uploading just the executable files or WAR files into the server (tomcat).

thank you,
techfang

The app server (tomcat or AWS or whatever) doesn't come with the spring framework. The app server should only come with the libraries that are part of the Java EE spec (servlet, EJB, JSF, JSTL etc)

So your web app needs to bundle the spring jar files into your WAR file under WEB-INF/lib folder.

This means your project in your IDE which need to import those spring libraries too through maven or whatever.
