You are now infected; the bug will spread throughout your computer until you go funny colours seeing four squares and only the sight of a penguin will make things better. There will come a time when you have computers which don't even have Windows installed. Take it from one who knows.

Yes! The book gets into just about all of those commands and has lots of charts to help you remember what everything means and does.

Presumably also installation, which used to be easy before UEFI?

Yup! Installation. Virtual, live (USB and CD) and disk installation. I recommend virtual, just because it's easy and not a huge emotional commitment. But I like to think a lot of Windows partitions are going to be wiped by the end of the book.

I was introduced to Linux a bit over eleven years ago; my wife continued to use Windows until they withdrew Outlook Express (the email client). When she couldn't find the nice text formatting on the new client, but found it on Thunderbird, she moved across to Fedora and we hardly ever use Windows at all.
I used to run Ubuntu on an Acer Chromebook by changing the hard drive, but I am not sure you can do that any more because they have changed to eMMC drives. Actually that Chromebook is still working nicely and still gets used several times weekly.

One of the things I love about Linux is that it runs well on not-so-great hardware.

I mean VirtualBox. If you're using VirtualBox, you don't need a USB port or DVD drive. Everything happens virtually on your computer.

I always believe need a bit more aggressive approach about the Linux. Either you dive in 100%, meaning one needs to have 1 operation system per 1 pc, or you wait until Windows annoys you completely

Depends how many milliseconds you have to spare?

No, it is quite easy to run a dual‑boot machine where a GRUB screen appears on power‑on, giving you the option of booting into Windows or Linux.

And guess what most likely happens when one after 3 attempts can't find the way to do "x", he simply during the every other boot presses option 1, which is other than Linux option.

Pretty much it here too (I just used FreeBSD for quite long). And the VirtualBox had only for Micr:censored: Navision use.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
