I am doing an application in wls8.1 in which i have to parse some IATA messages into XML.I am doing thru String parsing and manipulation techniques(StringTokenizer and etc etc).
There is a case in my coding where i have to recieve the IATA message and append the message at the end with a character(like '~' or '@') to a StringBuffer obj, which is further filtered to get the desired values.
When i am doing this or u can say running this sample of code thru jbuilder or any ide,it is running perfectly fine. like when i doing SOP of the line with a special characer it is returning me "WEIGHT AND DIST~".

But the main problem is that when i am doing this WLS8.1 and printing out to server console it is "WEIGHT AND DIST".Special character are not shown and this is causing a major rework in my code for that.
I just wanted to know why it(WLS8.1) is behaving like this when we want to display any String or StringBuffer obj with a character, why it is replacing byitself

Have you isolated this problem to WL? Have you tried running your program on other app servers, say Sun's RI implementation or WebSphere?

Anyway, we have an exclusive forum for discussing WL related issues and I am moving this thread there.

it's a teeny, tiny, wafer thin ad:
