Design Patterns: Is there much use of UML in the book to explain patterns?

As I thought about what helps me see a 'bigger' picture of design patterns, I realized I rather like UML diagrams. I'm curious if you make much use of them in the book?

Would a UML diagram really make a design pattern easier to understand?

I don't have an example I can link you to at hand. But I find that the UML diagram can make the relations between the classes clearer to me than looking at a specific code fragment. Though I admit, the times I have seem patterns explained via UML, it was an abstracted version of the UML. It was not for a specific implementation of a pattern.

I know the book doesn't contain any code, but don't know about UML. If you follow the “Win A Copy” link above to Amazon, you will find sample pages. See whether there is any UML there.
