I am a beginner in java.
What I have learnt is that while programming one has to first design the programme and then add functionality to it(like add functionality to buttons).
Is this JavaScript or Java?
Also I cannot find this in any other book.😯

Java and JavaScript are completely different programming languages. The only similarity is in the unfortunate choice of name.

It depends what you are designing.  If it is a web page you and if you are implementing the add functionality at the client end, you have to use java script

JavaScript, despite the popularity of the term, isn't actually a language. It is one supplier's implementation of the ECMAScript specification. Nashorn is another such implementation.

So can we use the same application(like NetBeans ) for both Java and JavaScript?

Sakshi

Netbeans is an IDE in a simpler language sort of an editor that allows you write and compile java codes.  If you are writing any web page using netbeans and it has any java script code embedded, this code will not be compiled by netbeans.  Remember javascript code is interpreted by the web browser when it's executed on browser.
