Yes, it is a good way to learn. But I think the classes they provide aren't helpful. There is nothing console program does which you can't do for yourself with the main method.
There is some useful stuff in there, I believe, particularly the IO classes. You don't appear to be using them. So you are using what doesn't help you and not using what would help. I am not sure what you write but it is something rather like:-
int i = Inputs.getInt();
You will have to check the documentation for the details. I think you will find the lectures better than many of the tutorials around on the Net, but you need to know the age of the lectures. Lectures from before 2005 are probably seriously out of date.
