As most of you certainly know, Javascript on the server side has gained a lot of momentum, mainly driven by the success of Node.js.
Recently I've read about a couple of big software vendors (I won't name them: I don't know if it's fair or not) that made a strong commitment on Node.js, and this implies of course a strong commitment to Javascript on the server side.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of scripted languages like Python or Javascript (when I attended at the university, any given programming course told students about the astounding advantages of strict typing - a feature that clearly doesn't belong to JS - so that now I'm biased against scripting languages),
and above all I am in doubt if endorsing JS + Node instead of Java or .NET is really a technical choice, and not a way to exploit the growing popularity of those techologies only to attract more developers on a specific platform.
What do you think about ? Is there anybody who uses JS + Node.js in production ? Any experience to share ?
