whats the difference between importing a class and just moving the file into the projects directory?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
i made an input class
i wanted to use/import it into another project
couldnt import it,so i just copied it into th directory and it became available
is import only used on built in java classes like java.util.scanner etc
would you just copy the files if you want to use them somewhere else...or am i missing something?

thanks

By "importing a class into a project", are you using an IDE? If so, it is a tools issue that you are encountering, and you need to elaborate what are you using.  And this "import" is not the same as the "import" keyword in the Java language... so, regardless, you may need to elaborate.
