When preparing for exam IZO-851 Im not getting always right answers whether code will fail to compile or  exception will be thrown at runtime. There are some basic rules or indications that can help to determine which of the two might happen without running the code. I had those rules in mynotes but I lost those notes so Im looking for those indications again.

Welcome to the Ranch

Which notes did you lose? Were they lecture notes or something? The Java® Language Specification contains all the rules, but it can be very difficult to read.

Yes,I lost my lecture notes. I know the whole area about compiling and exceptions is very  complex. However I remember that few simple rules were were only the aid when doing Oracle exam in case if I got stuck, having the difficulty to decide between compile error or exception.
