I will start as usual
I read this in a terry goodkind fantasy novel.
I figured because it was both profound and obvious that it must be an old observation, perhaps by lao tsun or someone thousands of yeas ago.
but I googled it and it is a terry goodkind quote.
"only those you trust can betray you"
it made me go hmmm.
it kind of bothered me that I had never thought of it.
anyone want to share their favorite?

here is another quote I got from a different novel.
"just because you're paranoid doesn't mean nobody is out to get you"
(or someone isn't, I didn't write it down at the time)

That used to be on all the loo walls when I was young. This website attributes it to Joseph Heller in Catch 22, but it is slightly different from that.
