This book appears to be very timely as I am just starting out with a web-based application that will require Java Script code.
I see from the cover of the book that there are 50+ examples which I am looking forward to trying out to give me ideas for my application.

I don't want my application to use old fashion HTML tables.  Does this book go into details on how to implement modern web page designs?

Good luck on your book.

Thom.

Bear in mind that tables in HTML are far from "old-fashioned" as long as they are used for, well, tables. There's seems to be a common misconception that tables are deprecated and shouldn't be used for anything.

But yeah, using tables for layout rather than CSS is a practice that's been obsolete for well over a decade.

Hi Thomas

Yes, the book does present how to implement modern web page designs. The first chapter presents the basic HTML and CSS skills you need for the book, and none of the book applications use tables for layout purposes. However, since the focus of the book is JavaScript/jQuery, the CSS presented is very basic. Murach does have an excellent HTML5/CSS3 book - you can check it out at https://www.murach.com/shop/murachs-html5-and-css3-3rd-edition-detail
