This book looks like something I need! I have only basic experience with Linux and can just about navigate around but struggle when asked to write scripts or fix bugs in scripts, how deep does the book go into scripting? Does it give advice on debugging for example?

The book is designed to provide an overview on common scripting languages like BASH, Perl and Python. As an overview, it doesn't go into a great deal of depth, but it does provide resources on where to learn more.
