Hi everybody,

I'll be taking the SE 7 Programmer II exam next friday. Referring to Kathy Sierra/Bert Bates Serialization will not be part of the exam. Yet, Enthuware's prep exams include quite a few questions related to that topic.

So, is it possible that Oracle includes Serialization questions? Any experiences?

Thanks a lot and kind regards
Simon

Oracle's official exam objectives do not mention Serialization explicitly but they include ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream, which are directly related to serialization. Some candidates have also reported getting questions on serialization. For this reason, we have still kept questions on this topic and suggest that you should go through them.

HTH,
Paul.

Simon,
The topic of Serialization in particular is interesting in that Oracle added/removed it from the OCP multiple times. So while it isn't in the official objectives, I also recommend you know about it before the exam.

Thanks a lot.

I passed the exam yesterday. Fortunately, without any ObjectOutputStream-Qs ;)

I have to say, Enthuware's mock exams much better prepared me for the real exam than Kathy Sierra's book did. A lot of topics were included which were marked as irrelevant in the book, e.g. StringTokenizer, RandomAccessFile.
Propably because Oracle likes to change the objectives?! Anyways, thanks to everyone 👍🏼

Cheers
