In our spring MVC application, we are displaying error message at the top of the form using

This (cssClass="error") css class has a background image (error symbol) which I was hoping it would apply before each error message, but is was not doing that the <form:errors>is getting converted into

Is it possible any way to apply the css at individual error message level, in that span.
