Hello
I am looking for some configuration at the web server level that will capture the request/response time for each request along with the authenticated id.

Is this something I need to include within my app or is it possible to get this from the web server logs.

Thanks.

If you want to server side response time then server logging is necessary. For example write a log entering and exiting the API.

However, client tools such as JMeter can detect the response time but again that's the client side.

Just create a filter that does it for you. Basically, in doFilter:
Then make sure this is one of the first filters in your filter chain (you'll have to use web.xml to get any ordering on filters), and you're good to go.
