I am new to weblogic server

can any one help me how to start the weblogic server
and buiding a sample web application in the weblogic server

if u can send me links

You can go to http://www.bea.com and there find doc for your version of weblogic.
At first you have to create a domain and in domain you can then put your webapp. It will also create for you the start and stop batch files.

I created the domain
and got batch files
when executing startWebLogic.bat the server is not properly launching

what are the extra settings needed to launch the server

What is the problem? Could you provide what error it gives you? Maybe you are missing some environment variables.
