What is a "remote method"?  Where is it located?
How is it accessible from where the code is executing that wants to access the remote method?

Without knowing more context, there are many ways to answer this question, most of which are likely irrelevant to you. So: what prompted this question?

In that case, the question can't be answered. There are as many ways to connect to some remote service as you can invent. You'd need to define "remote service" and "connect" in order to narrow down the possibilities. For example, does transferring a file via a USB stick qualify? Something like email certainly would. But as I said, the possibilities are endless, and can't be enumerated.

As I said, that's an overly general question, as there are as many way to do this as people care to implement. Fundamentally, most of them boil down to some specific protocol running on top of a TCP/IP connection.

Also two computers could be connected using  serial ports.  What about bluetooth?  Are there sound or light devices that could be used?
