Yesterday, it was in the news about a case with linked in and screenscrapers. I'm puzzled why it is controversial. Aren't most people republishing sites in places that don't care about copyright?

But LinkedIn didn't mention copyright as a reason for the cease-and-desist order.

They mentioned a few reasons per that article. One was the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

I think LinkedIn is just mad that someone else is making money off what they consider "their data"
I find both social media and data mining to be disturbing trends
