Hi, I am looking for some freelance telecommuting work in Java.  I only have classroom experience.  I am finding it hard to find a job without real world experience.  I would like to partner with a mentor and do some work.  I want to work for a year or 2 on small projects to gain experience that counts. Is there anyplace to go to find such a thing? Thanks
Mark

First, let me welcome you to Code Ranch and I let me say that I'm glad that you are here.

I'm unsure if you have tried any web sites out, however this site may have exactly what you want:
https://www.freelancer.com/

The site mentioned above use to be Rent A Coder, and it has been around since 1997.

Disclaimer: I have not used that site for anything (yet) and I don't work for or get any funds for mentioning that site.

I'm kind of in the same situation as you, which is why I'm taking some time to prepare for the Java 1Z0-808 exam while I'm looking to get experience and/or a job.

I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but I see you are unarmed - shakespear. Unarmed tiny ad:
