Hi German,

While my background for the last couple of years is cloud-based development, I have a pretty heavy background in traditional software development projects (my last job, was doing 8 years of inhouse development and architecture at a financial services company).  All of the material I write about in my book can be applied in the context of building applications that are going to be deployed within a corporate data center.  In chapter 10 of the book, I do demonstrate how to pick up and deploy the application to AWS, but there is nothing in the book that requires you to use a cloud-based solution.
