Thanks for hanging out here for answering questions.

I have a very basic question, At the  outset, I want to declare that I am a Java professional though I have
done my bit of fiddling with Javascript frameworks now and then.

Java's  WebView of JavaFX made a bit of a splash for creating JavaScript applications.
On the surface, this approach looks great – with the benefits of a state of the art browser engine, standard APIs,
no extra dependencies and tools to create platform-specific installers, many of the previous problems are solved.

But the approach hasn’t seen wide adoption, What do you think in your opinion that it did not make the cut?
Due to any shortcomings.
How do the modern applications, the likes of Electron or MacGap do overcome these shortcomings?

Many Thanks
